The Lancashire Football Association Challenge Cup. – The silver challenge cup, offered by the Lancashire Football Association for competition by the clubs of the county, has arrived at Darwen. The cup is made of solid silver, and as a work of art it is simply a masterpiece, and is without doubt the finest challenge cup in the kingdom. Its height from base to summit is 3ft. 4in., and at its widest point it is 16in. It is in the renaissance style; both cup and cover are decorated with Lancashire roses and foliage, and in the centre is the repousse subject, “A Football Match,” the point represented in the contest being the all-exciting moment when the goal is about to be won. The value of the cup is over 150 guineas.
