Season review 1891-92: Rossendale

May 21, 1892
Rossendale are this year fourth, as compared with seventh 12 months ago, and their play has improved just about as much as this indicates. Their League victories number 12, draws three, and losses seven, with a goal record of 64 to 38.

They beat Heywood, Heywood Central, South Shore, and Witton twice each, while Blackpool was the only team to beat them in both engagements. The club’s season’s record was 38 games played, 22 won, 5 drawn, 11 lost with 113 goals to 66. The only month of the season during which the team did not suffer defeat was January, when three games were won and two drawn. The next best to this were October, November, and December, when only one out of five, four and three respectively was lost.

The highest number of goals scored by the team was 9-2 against West Manchester in a League match, but the best scores were 8-0 against Witton in the League, and Irwell Sprigs, and 7-0 against Oswaldtwistle Rovers. The largest number of goals scored against the team was five by South Shore in the League game at South Shore.
