August 20, 1892
An individual from Leicester has already been foolishly calculating as to the ultimate result of the Football League championship of 1892-3, and according to his table Sunderland and Preston North End are to tie for first place with 40 points each, while Nottingham Forest are to be third on the list with 38. Wolverhampton, Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke and Newton Heath are fixed at the bottom, the latter being no. 16 with 27 points. Such ridiculous prognostication will be treated for what they are worth by all footballers.
