Dinner party with Mr. Houlding

September 3, 1892
William McOwen
, last year’s goalkeeper for Darwen, has been engaged by the new Liverpool organisation who have three men in all for the post of custodian. Billy has got a much superior position from a financial standpoint than he ever had previously.

The three custodians also include Sydney Ross, of Cambuslang, and a Liverpool man.

The men are to be tried in turn, and the one giving the most satisfaction will be selected for the first team. The organisation has got nearly forty men signed to play, and by far the part of them are Scotch men.

The players, along with officials, were entertained to dinner on Tuesday evening by Mr. John Houlding, the chief back bone for the club for introductory purposes.
