Nuggets from Cricket and Football Field (September 24, 1892)

September 24, 1892
* Everton and Liverpool at Walton Breck end last Thursday. Arguments increased the fervour.
* James McBride makes up by science what he loses by height. He is fearless and bold, and but a stripling.
* Rough and tumble tricks by footballers, the game was amazingly novel last Thursday at Anfield.
* Mr. John James Ramsay expected a gate at Anfield to-day of fully 7,000. His club is quietly and confidentially waiting for the tide to turn.
* Duncan McLean almost rivals Tom Hay for pluck and perseverance. With a dislocated elbow against the Central he offered a stubborn and accurate defence.
* Nearly 2,000 assembled to see Middlesborough team against Liverpool. The home team`s backs were weak – neither Andrew Hannah nor Duncan McLean playing.
