January 14, 1893
Key note: “This return fixture was played at Manchester on Saturday before 3,000 spectators. A severe frost on Friday night following the thaw in midweek had covered the ground with sheets of ice, which had been covered with a sprinkling of sand. The state of the ground, together with a fierce biting wind which blew across it, totally spoilt the game, from a spectators’ point of view.”
