Liverpool are quietly preparing for their next season’s work. The task will be much more arduous than hitherto. The executive have positively signed on William McOwen, Alex Rennie, Duncan McLean, Andrew Hannah, John McCartney, James McBride, Joe McQue, Malcolm McVean, Patrick Gordon, Matt McQueen, Hugh McQueen and are negotiating with an international centre-forward, who seems inclined to listen to Liverpool’s proposals. Another couple of forwards are still required, so as to allow Matt McQueen taking the place of Hannah in case of emergency.
The committee have decided to run only an amateur team for second eleven, and in this they are making a step in the right direction. It will not be a difficult job to gather a very fine eleven together, especially as Mr Alex Nisbet has had his eye upon several men who have come under his notice during the different matches of the Liverpool League last season. John Miller, who assisted Liverpool last season, has asked the exorbitant wage of £100 down and £3 per week as being the terms he will sign on again, and this following the receipt of a bonus last year.
