Accrington withdraws from the Football League

July 24, 1893
At a specially called meeting of the Accrington Football Club held last evening, the question was discussed as to whether the club should remain the second division of the League or join the Lancashire League. It was explained that the club could not possibly hope to continue in the second division without raising the club’s debt from £200 to £1,000, and ultimately it was resolved to apply for admission to the Lancashire League.
