Bootle’s dead poem

August 19, 1893
Hoist the Bootle flag half-mast,
Bootle’s day is gone and past –
Where were the friends of Bootle.
Few ever thought it could be said,
“Our club for ever now is dead.”
Her food was stories instead of bread,
Hoist the Bootle flag half-mast.
Bootle’s dead. Bootle’s dead.
