The coming season at Northwich


September 2, 1893
The Northwich Victoria Football Club opens its season on Saturday with a match at Grimsby against the representatives of that town.

The team is one of the strongest the Victoria has had at the commencement of a season. Ike Brookes a well-known and capable player from Stoke, has been secured for goal. George Postles and Williamm Guest (Garston).

The half-backs will make a grand line, the players on the roll being Robert Ramsay, Willie Almond (Blackburn Rovers), James Roberts (Liverpool), and J. Knight (Small Heath).

Forwards will be chosen from the following: Patrick Finnerhan, John Ryan (Bootle), Alf Edge (Stoke), Peter Rae, G.A. Drinkwater, Carson (Liverpool), H. Bailey, and Tommy Tierney.
