Alex “Sandy” McMahon, of the Celtic F.C., is gifted with an extraordinary retentive memory. It is said of him that he can quote from memory the whole of Shakespeare’s plays. On a recent occasion, it is averred, he attended a Glasgow theatre four nights in succession, at the end of which period he sat down and wrote the entire play. It was to decide a wager between two friends, McMahon being allowed five nights in which to accomplish the feat. Cum grano salis!
