There is a growing opinion that even if the three test matches are played the chances are that there will not be a great change in the personnel of the League. It is pretty generally anticipated that Liverpool will go under before Newton Heath, and Small Heath will not shake Darwen off, notwithstanding the great scoring capabilities as demonstrated by their Second Division goal record. Notts may beat Bolton Wanderers, and they many not. In any event, the odds are in favour of the number of Leagye clubs being increased, so that Bolton Wanderers and Notts will both be in. A way of dealing with the difficulty of Liverpool and Small Heath would be to let them play a test match and the winners step up.
