Jimmy Ross in benefit match for the McGregor Fund

A meeting of the management committee of the Football League, was held at the Lion Hotel; Nottingham, yesterday. The following team were selected to oppose Aston Villa in a match to be played at Birmingham, on September 24, for the benefit of the McGregor fund: –

Joe Reader (West Bromwich Albion), goal; John Somerville (Bolton Wanderers) and Adam Scott (Nottingham Forest), backs; Tom Perry (West Bromwich Albion), David Calderhead (Notts County) and Ernest Needham (Sheffield United), half-backs; Billy Bassett (West Bromwich Albion), Jimmy Ross (Liverpool), John Goodall (Derby County), Fred Wheldon (Small Heath) and Jock Bell (Woverhampton Wanderers).
