New Stoke not so popular

July 20, 1895
The new Stoke Football Club (Limited) does not appear to be going very smoothly, for only about £700 had been applied for in shares, and as £600 had to be paid to the guarantors for the old debts of the club, there is not much of a balance left, especially when we consider that it is impossible to rush all the calls before the season commences, and that in the meantime largely increased summer wages have to be paid.
