The Liverpool team who have been training at Freshfield for nearly a fortnight, left the Exchange Station Friday at quarter to one and were accompanied by more than 600 of their supporters. Boltons’ splendid enclosure presented a fine appearance. Liverpool created a big surprise by inflicting a severe reverse on the Wanderers, and on the play shown by the two teams Liverpool thoroughly deserved their splendid victory. Throughout the game they held the upper hand, and exhibited sterling play all round. The forwards combined in good style, and Geary, who replaced Bradshaw, was very prominent by contributing several dashing runs and accurate centres, whilst he scored with a really brilliant shot.
