January 6, 1897
Tentatively the date of the annual theatrical football gala, in aid of medical charities of the city, has been chosen, namely, the February 11. The promoters are hard at work in the framing of the preparations for the occasion, and at present it is understood that there is a likelihood of the receipts being apportioned mainly between the Stanley Hospital and the Hospital for Consumption, two institutions whose history is one long record of the succor of suffering humanity, and which cry aloud for help.
