Meeting of the Football Association (February 3, 1897)

At, 61, Chancery-lane, London, Dr Morley (Blackburn) presided over a meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Association. The principal business was the draw for the second round in the competition proper of the English cup. This resulted as follows: –

Everton v Bury. Referee, Mr. Tom Armitt (Leek); linesmen, Messrs. G.S. Dale (Newton Heath) and W.C. Collier (Crewe).

Sunderland v Nottingham Forest. Referee, Mr. Thomas Helme (Farnworth); linesmen, Messrs. A. Cooper (Durham) and J. Cowley (Sheffield).

Blackburn Rovers v Wolves. Referee, Mr. Aaron Scragg (Crewe); linesmen, Messrs. A. Hull (Derby and W. Heath (Stoke).

Preston North End v Stoke. Referee, Mr. J. Tillotson (Sheffield); linesmen, Messrs. A. Cooknell (Birmingham) and Robert Edward Lythgoe (Liverpool).

Derby County v Grimsby Town or Bolton Wanderers. Referee, Mr. J. Brodie (Wolverhampton); linesmen, Messrs. P.A. Timlis (Middlesex FA) and A.G. Hines (Nottingham).

Southampton St. Mary’s v Newton Heath. Referee, Mr. A. Roston Rourke (hon. Secretary Referees’ Association); linesmen, Messrs. A. Davis (Marlow) and A. Millward (Birmingham).

West Bromwich v Liverpool. Referee, Mr. J. Fox (Sheffield); linesmen, Messrs. J.E. Carpenter (Leicester) and A. Lovell (Leicester).

Ties to be played on Saturday, February 13. Kick off no later than 3 pm.
