Saturday, April 24 – 1897
The Liverpool team opened their Scotch tour at Edinburgh on Saturday, opposing the Hearts in their return engagement. They travelled on Friday by 5 15 train from Exchange Station under the guidance of Mr Benjamin Bailey, and at Preston joined the London and North western dining saloon car, reaching Edinburgh at 10 30. Their headquarters were at the Douglas Hotel, and the following morning being brilliantly fine was spent in viewing the places of interest in the locality.
