Players coming and going May 1897

The committee of the Liverpool Football Club have up to the present engaged the following players for next season: – The new men are  Marshall and Walker, of Leith Athletic; Gray, the centre-half of the Partick Thistle; Cunliffe, the centre-forward of Oldham County; and Finnerhan, of Northwich, the popular forward of Manchester City.

It is expected that a couple of more forwards will be engaged.

Goal,  Harry Storer and Willie Donnelly;
backs,  Archie Goldie, Tom Wilkie, Billy Dunlop, and Matt McQueen;
half backs, John McCartney, Joe McQue, Thomas Cleghorn, John Holmes, and Patrick Gray;
forwards, Robert Marshall, William Walker, Patrick Finnerhan, Daniel Cunliffe, Frank Becton, Harry Bradshaw, Fred Geary, and Andy McCowie.
