Tom Watson had made good use of his opportunities in Scotland this week. When he signed on Hugh Morgan he made a splendid capture, but his latest has caused a bit of sensation in Scotland. For long the eyes of the club managers have been turned to the Heart’s left pair Thomas Robertson and John Walker, but on Wednesday they were transferred to Liverpool. This pair is unquestionably the best pair in Scotland, their performances in the trials and in the Irish international being marvelous displays of football. Both men are very fast, and strong and deadly shots at goal, and both are young, with years of first class football in team. Robertson prefers inside right, so that Morgan and Walker will be the left wing. Becton and Robertson will be on the right wing, and the centre will be announced shortly. Altogether Liverpool will have a great next season. (Liverpool Echo, 31-03-1898)
