The Liverpool Corporation published on Saturday the accounts for the year in connection with the tramways undertaking of the city. In 1898 the Corporation acquired from the Tramways Company the whole of the tramways undertaking at a cost of nearly £600,000, and forthwith addressed themselves to an elaborate scheme of extension of the tramways system and the conversion from horse haulage to electricity.
The accounts published on Saturday show a total expenditure on capital account to the 31st December last of £1,161,279. The revenue account for 1898 shows a total expenditure of £302,159 and a total income of £365,859, giving a balance to credit of £63,700.
