A large crowd assembled on the Anfield ground on Saturday to witness the first of the preliminary centers prior to the opening of the football campaign. The sides chosen represented practically the League defence against their forwards, and some fairly interesting play was shown. The absence of Tom J. Robertson (back), who was still indisposed owing to a recent attack of influensa, led to the inclusion of John Glover, otherwise the defence was the same as in the last season’s League games. Judging from the attendance, the coming season seems to be eagerly anticipated.
