Tom Robertson offered maximum wage

May 22, 1902
Liverpool are anything but pleased at Tom Robertson, their late full back, migrating to Southampton. It cost them close upon £400 for his transfer from Stoke, and they have not had two years’ service out of him. So far as they are aware, Robertson had no grievance, and as he was offered the maximum rate of wages, some very unpleasant things are being said in Liverpool as to the inducement for him to journey south.

In addition to Robertson, Liverpool, lose John “Sailor” Hunter and Tom Robertson (forward) who have joined the Hearts,

Johnny Walker to Glasgow Rangers, and John T. Hunter to Preston North End; but these men have, of course, been transferred in the ordinary way.
