Dunlop cleared, Raisbeck sent on to Raybould, and the latter put in a drive which struck the under-side if the Sheffield bar, and fell back into play. An exciting scrimmage followed, and Liverpool claimed a penalty against Langley. It was not allowed, play opening out even exchanges in midfield ensued.

Spiksley was first to get away again, and he centred beautifully, but Perkins, playing with more nerve took the ball from Chapman’s foot and saved a certain goal. Raybould then scored for Liverpool, Cox added a second, and on the interval Wilson got through for the visitors.
