Never lost his place in the team

May 14, 1903
William Goldie, the left half-back just secured by Portsmouth, was a slim, wispy lad of eighteen when he went to Liverpool. He is the only player they have had since becoming a power in the football who has never lost his place in the team for indifferent form or other cause attributable to the man. Goldie is a younger brother of Archie Goldie, the famous back.
