Murray replaces West for Liverpool

Thursday, September 1 – 1904
The match in the Second Division takes place at Anfield-road, where Liverpool ought to experience little difficulty in overcoming Burton United. There are but two changes from the side which generally did duty last season for Liverpool. Ned Doig appears in goal, and David Murray does duty with Billy Dunlop at back till Alf West is well enough to turn out. West underwent another operation at the end of last week, and in the opinion of the doctors he will be fit for duty a month hence. The team to meet Burton will be: – Ned Doig, goal; David Murray and Billy Dunlop, backs; Maurice Parry, Alex Raisbeck, and James Hughes, half backs; Arthur Goddard, Robert Robinson, Sam Raybould, Joe Hewitt, and Jack Cox.
