Distress among the unemployed is reported to be still severe. To raise funds for further relief the Unemployed Committee has met and completed arrangements for a benefit football match, to be played on the Liverpool Club’s ground on the 27th inst., between a picked team of the schoolboys of Liverpool and of Birkenhead. Silver medals with gold centres are to be awarded to the winners; the losers will be consoled with silver medals without the “precious” centre. The match will be under the patronage of the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress.
