Liverpool open their season with a match against Woolwich Arsenal, at Woolwich. It will be noticed that there are no new names in the Anfield contingent given below, the directors relying on last season’s well-tried servants. Two new men appear in the Gunners’ eleven, these being Sharp and Blair. Before the match a gymnastic display will be given by the boys of the Lewisham Industrial School. The teams are advertised to line up as follows: –
Liverpool. – Ned Doig, goal; Alf West and Billy Dunlop, backs; Maurice Parry, Alex Raisbeck, and George Fleming, half-backs; Arthur Goddard, Robert Robinson, Jack Parkinson, Sam Raybould, and John Cox, forwards.
Woolwich Arsenal. – Jimmy Ashcroft, goal Archie Gray and Jimmy Sharp, backs; John Dick, Percy Sands, and Roddy McEachrane, half backs; Jimmy Bellamy, Tim Coleman, Charles Satterthwaite, James Blair, and Bobby Templeman, forwards.
