Action against a football player withdrawn

November 20, 1905
An action was some time ago raised in Falkirk Sheriff Court at the instance of Mary Richards, Sandyford Street, Glasgow, against Luke Raisbeck, West Limerigg, Slamannan, professional football player in Blackpool, for £500 damages for alleged breach of promise and seduction.

Recently a Falkirk solicitor, acting for the pursuer’s agent in Glasgow, intimated that the pursuer had withdrawn from the case, and that defender’s agent then requested that his friend produce his mandate at the next court. The pursuer’s agent was unable to do so, and intimation was sent to the pursuer regarding her position, and no one having appeared for her at the Court today, Sheriff Moffatt granted an unopposed motion for absolvitor of the defender. The merits of the case were not entered into the record never having been closed.
