The funeral of William Walker


Sunday, January 27 – 1907
The funeral of the late Willie Walker, of Leith Athletic, from his home at Broxburn was attended by several hundreds. The mourners included representatives of Leith, Hearts, and Hibernian Football Clubs, and over 200 member of the local Court of Foresters, of which the deceased was an official, also attended. One of the many wreaths was from Vale of Leven F.C., the club Walker was playing against when he received the injury that proved fatal. Over 100 travelled from Edinburgh and Leith by motor buses to attend the funeral.
