The balance sheet issued to the shareholders of the Chesterfield Town F.C., Ltd., on Saturday in spite of their unsuccessful season, shows a very creditable state of things. There is a balance in hand of £114 18s. 0½d. The wages of the players came to £1,936 14s., travelling expenses amounted to £243 5s. 1d., and the match expenses amounted to £258 4s. 9½d., whilst the total expenditure was £2,980 9s. 9½d. In the receipts £2,801 10s. 10d. was taken at the gates, season tickets realised £204 18s. 5d., whilst £136 18s. was received through the transfer of players.
The club have a very promising outlook for the forthcoming season. Of the old players Tom Cope, Jack Allen, Jimmy Logan, Herbert Munday, Proctor Hall, Tommy Broad, Albert Holmes, Wally Tattersall, and Albert Clarke have been retained, and the following new ones secured: – Harry Fitzpatrick (Liverpool), Haydn Green (Nottingham Forest), James Campbell (Strathclyde), Harry Griffiths (Liverpool), Jimmy Hay (Barnsley), Fred Bemment (Notts County), George Baker (who formerly played with Chesterfield), and Tommy Crawshaw, the famous Sheffield Wednesday captain.
