Big win at Oldham

December 26, 1908
Oldham Athletic Reserves v Liverpool Reserves
At Oldham. In the early stages Liverpool had the bulk of the attacking, and after five minutes’ play Harold Uren found the net with a shot from long range. Oldham now warmed to the attack, but several corners failed to gain any advantage. Swann saved a brilliant shot from Whaites, and a big kick by Ted Hughes transferred play, a centre by Uren aiding Mike Griffin to beat Rounds for the second time.

Half-time: Liverpool 2, Oldham Athletic 0.

On resuming, play was of a tame and uninteresting character, and the treacherous state of the ground interfered with good football. Reid broke up a dangerous attack by the Liverpool forwards, and aided the home left to attack. A corner was eventually awarded, but Swarbrick put behind. Play travelled to the opposite end, but Lenny and Core responded cleverly. William Hunter, however, added a third goal.

Final: Liverpool Reserves 3, Oldham Athletic 0.
