The death of William Dickson

The death occurred on Thursday at Stoke of Mr. William Alexander Dickson, a well-known ex-football player, and one of the first Scottish exponents of the game to join an English club. He was born in Dundee, and played successively for Dundee, Strathmore, Sunderland, and Aston Villa, captaining the latter team in the cup final at the Kennington Oval. He went to Stoke in 1892, and played for the old League club for five season. He was director of the present Stoke Club.
