Hunter’s off to Wee Clyde

Thursday, October 6 – 1910
Two well-known Scottish centre forwards were yesterday transferred to other clubs. John “Sailor” Hunter, who for several seasons past has been associated with the Dundee Club, has gone over to Wee Clyde. What the Shawfielders would want with another centre with so capable a pivot as John Chalmers on their list would seem to be a bit of mystery. It is a mystery, however, easily explainable, for it transpires that Chalmers was yesterday signed on by the Woolwich Arsenal.

Hunter was undoubtedly a good man at his best, but he is now past his prime, and although he may give quite good displays for his new club on occasion, he cannot be expected to show that consistency of form which he gave during his first season with the Dens Parkers.
I understand that Hunter’s transfer cost Clyde £250.
