John McConnell transferred to Aberdeen

May 29, 1912
Another notable capture has been made by Aberdeen. Mr. Phillips, the Aberdeen manager, who attended the first meeting of the Scottish Football Council in Glasgow last night, took the opportunity of his journey to the West to interview John McConnell, the well-known Liverpool half-back. He is a wing half, and can play equally well on either side. He is an Anglo-Scot, and played as a senior for Motherwell. Then he was a year with Airdrieonians and three years ago went to Liverpool, for whom he has rendered good service. He is of good height, and well built, and should prove a good acquisition to Aberdeen.

John McConnell, who played as a half-back for Liverpool last season has been signed on by the Directors of Aberdeen as a half back. He can play on either the right or the left wing with equal facility. McConnell belongs to Motherwell, and played for the club of that place and for Airdrie prior to going to Liverpool.
