Joe Butler for Lincoln City

Monday, June 1 – 1914
Having retained their place in the League, Lincoln City have speedily set about the task of strengthening their team. The pick of last season’s players had already been resigned, and the signatures of J.H. Butler, the goalkeeper, whom Sunderland secured from Glossop when they were in a bad way, and Charles S. Stevens, full back, of Reading, who last season played in 22 League matches for the Southern League club, have been obtained. Stevens, who stands 5ft. 10in. and weighs 12st 7lb, is, strictly speaking, a left back, but can play on the other wing if required.
