But for a prohibitive fee placed on his transfer John Macdonald, the Newcastle United winger, would have been a signed player by Dundee by now. As it is, the Dens Park club still have hopes of securing this noted played.

Negotiations between the clubs have been in progress for some time, and the player has signified that the terms offered by Dundee are acceptable, but the fee demanded by the English club proves the bar to progress.

The facts are: – Eighteen months ago Newcastle paid £900 to Liverpool for the transfer of Macdonald, and now that it appears certain the player will not again turn out for the United he cannot fix up with another club unless the fee asked by Newcastle is forthcoming. Dundee are unable to pay this sum for Macdonald, and his coming to Dundee depends on the action of the Tynesiders.
