Another local item given us pause: – Howard Baker, the famed jumper and Marlborough boy, has been signed by Blackburn Rovers, Alex McGhie probably by proving the intermediary. But how comes it that in times such as these, when our local clubs want players, and are not prepared to pay out cheques for thousands, that a local of locals should go to Blackburn? Howard Baker has had trial with the Rovers, and has proved himself a very useful half-back.
