Turton Football Club disbanded

February 20, 1915
The war has played havoc with football clubs in Lancashire, and the latest to go under is the Turton Club, the disbandment being officially intimated to-day. Turton were pioneers of the Association game in Lancashire and sent out men like John James Bentley, of Manchester United, and a past president of the League; Sagar and Leeming, former Bury players and Haworth, now associated with Middlesbrough. Turton and Notts Forest both claim priority in introducing the three half-back system.
