Now that the playing season is finished, we may look for professional players joining the colours in greater numbers than formerly. The latest to enlist in the Cameron Highlanders is James Spiers, the well-known Leeds City forward.
Spiers, who is a South Glasgow man, was first heard of in the Junior Maryhill, for which club he was a profilic goalscorer for a season, or so.
Rangers next had the benefit of his services, and a term was spent with Clyde at Shawfield prior to his crossing the Border.
Beforer going to Leeds James was Bradford City, whom he helped to land the English Cup; indeed, he scored the goal which gave them the victory in the final tie.
Of fine physique, Spiers should make a fine-looking Highlander.
