The death has taken place in the Stockpot infirmary, after an operation for appendicitis, of Mr. Jack Sykes, the well-known Football League referee. Mr. Sykes, who was 40 years of age, was only admitted to the institution on Monday, and died late on Tuesday night. He was one of the best known football officials in Cheshire, and acted for several years in English League and Cup matches.
