Thomas Clarkson, of 242 Aston Lane, Perry Barr, a former member of the Aston Villa Football Club, died this week. From 1889 to 1894 he played half-back for the Villa, and he was considered one of the best exponents of the game in the country. The playing ground of the club was then in Wellington Road, Perry Barr.
He was taken ill four or five months ago and cancer developed, and he passed away on Thursday. Clarkson who was fifty-two years of age, leaves a widow but no children.
