Among the promotions gazettes in the 1st Footballers Battalion are many well-known players. 2nd Lieutenant V.J. Woodward, the international, becomes a lieutenant, and others to gain this step are 2nd Lieutenant H.W. Wall (son of the Football Association secretary), A.B. Palmer (Reading half back), A.I. Tooze (the Middlesex Rugby forward), E.D. Evans (Fulham F.C. director), his brother D. Evans, as well as H.B. King, M. Oxenbould (the old Liverpool Scottish private), and H. Collis.
Lieutenant E.I. Bell (the old Portsmouth and Southampton amateur) becomes a captain, and is appointed to the adjuntancy.
Others to gain captain’s rank are Lieutenant D.W. Wilkinson and 2nd Lieutenant C.W. Curtis.
