The annual report and statement of accounts of the Stoke Football Club shows a loss on last season’s working of £2,320. The total expenditure was £5,502, the principal items being players’ wages and transfers, £2,830; travelling and training expenses, £645; and amounts paid to other clubs and associations and repayments of loans, £629.
The income from gate receipts was £2,225, which was about 60% below the figure of the previous season, and is attributed by the directors solely to the war.
A sum of £232 was received from season tickets. The total indebtedness of the club is £2,919.
