Honours for Old Xaverians
Old members of this popular football club will be interested to hear that among the list of commissions announced during the last week appear the following names of recent playing members of the club: –
Second-lieutenant Charles F. Arrowsmith, 8th V.B.K.L.R., who has acted of recent years as honorary secretary of the club, and was also a master of St. Francis Xavier’s College.
Second-lieutenant Joseph Lightbound, 8th V.B.K.L.R.
Lieutenant Cedric Baxter, South Lancashire.
Lieutenant James McAuley, R.N.R.
Lieutenant James Keating, R.N.R.
Second-lieutenant John McKenna, 3rd Battalion, South Lancashires.
Mr. McKenna will be remembered as one of the older playing members of the Old Xaverian’s Football Club when they won the Liverpool Amateur Cup in 1908 and the Lancashire Amateur League Cup in 1909, generally playing outside right.
He also twice represented Lancashire in county matches and played in the England (amateur) match North v. South on various occasions. Mr. McKenna also on occasions has assisted the Liverpool Football Club in league and other matches whenever he could be spared from his own team.
