Stoke F.C.: Fine reduced by the Southern League Committee

Friday, October 1 – 1915
The Appeals Committee of the Southern Football League met in the offices of the Football Association yesterday, to hear the appeal of the Stoke Club against the decision of the League fining the club £500 for resigning without giving notice on or before 31 December, as required by the rules.

The committee were of opinion that the Southern League were justified in imposing the fine, but in the special circumstances caused by the war the fine should be reduced to £250.

With regard to the transfer fees of the Stoke players Rule 15 is definite, and the committee have no power to vary the provision of that rule.
