Military funeral for William Cox


November 10, 1915
This afternoon full military honours were at Blackpool cemetery accorded the remains of William Cox, formerly a prominent professional footballer, who last Saturday died in Birmingham Hospital from wounds sustained in the Dardanelles.

Many townspeople attended the funeral. Cox was in the Sixth King’s Own Royal Lancasters. He is the younger brother of John Cox, the former Liverpool international outside left, and had played for Bury, Preston North End, Plymouth Argyle, Heart of Midlothian, Dundee and Bradford.
