The fastest sprinter in Liverpool

August 31, 1916
We have some runners among our footballers this season. It is a few years now since Jack Parkinson and W. Stevenson made som capital sprint matches. Now the mantle has fallen on Robert Waine and Lloyd, the former of Liverpool, and the latter of Everton. That Robert Waine was speedy we knew, but football speed and track speed are two different propositions. However, last night, at Messrs. Morton and Birtchall handicap, R. Waine was returned the winner. It was a dash over 70 yards, and Waine won his heat in 7 sec., and his final time against Willward of Oldham, showed 6 14-16 sec.
