June 1, 1917
The annual meeting of the Newcastle United Football Club was held last night under the presidency of Mr. J. Graham. The report and balance-sheet, showing an excess of expenditure over income amounting to £823 were adopted.

The retiring directors – Alderman G. Archibald, D. Crawford, W. Wilburn, and J. Lunn – were re-elected, and the co-option of Captain Strother Stewart in place of the late Mr. J. Cameron confirmed.

The Chairman intimated that five of their leading players, Tom Goodwill, Rivers, Esther, Richard McGough, and Tom Pike had been killed in action.
