Fred Pagnam operated for appendicitis

Wednesday July 4 – 1917
For some time Fred Pagnam has not been well. Army life, or something connected with the training, did him no good, and when I saw him play at the Arsenal ground for Portsmouth I was struck by the amount of weight and te strength he had lost, all so suddenly. Now I learn that the Liverpool centre-forward is stationed in Devonshire, and has just come through an operation for appendicitis. All will join me in wishing the centre a swift return to his wonted health and strength.
